While that monkey bear was away, I decided to give his room a whole new look. It was the most manual labour I've ever done in my entire life. Fortunately, Amanda was nice enough to help me out. I would've never been able to do everything by myself.
Preparation for the challenge of renovating his room...
- Made several trips to IKEA. Bought shelves, lamps, screws, carpet, wall hinges, hangers, etc. (I carried everything all by myself!)
- Rollers / Paintbrushes
- Long Bamboo stick
- A tub of Plaster
- Cleaning cloths
- Paint. *Ceiling: 2 Litres of Rose White with Vinyl finish. *Wall: 5 Litres of Natural Cane Low Odour paint. *Cabinets / Wardrobes: 4 Litres of Congo Brown Wood / Metal Paint. *Murals: 1 Litre of Black Water Based Matt Paint.
- Home-Fix Shop *28 pieces Stainless mental cabinet Handles *Multi-purpose screwdriver *1 Tin of Wood Filler
- Borrow a ladder from a friend and carry it all the way back.
- Source for a Toolbox.
My sister and I spent ages cleaning up the room, getting rid of all the dust and rust, scrapping out old peeling paint from the ceiling, etc before actually beginning the whole painting process.
I realised that there was a huge hole in the ceiling while scrapping out the paint. I had to use the entire tub of plaster to fill it up. That was tough. I'm glad I bought the big tub. >.<
The hardest thing about the entire project was the cabinets and wardrobe. Because they're bolted to the wall, I could not replace them. So, I repainted the whole thing! I dismantled 14 doors and took out 14 drawers, repainted them all, unscrewed 28 handles and replaced them... and painted the whole table top, frame and wardrobe!!! My arms were aching like crazy...
Anyway, it's all done now. And murals I painted are absolutely awesome. =D

I'll take photos of the finished murals as soon as I get the chance to do so. I hope he likes the room... he's coming home soon. =)
Love,
Brenda.
